Leeuwergem-Elene project (Dec 7, 2019)

Within the project about the historical landscape Leeuwergem-Elene, a try-out guided tour took place in the area. In 2020, these guided tours will be supported by a group application for smartphone and tablet.

In het project rond het historisch landschap Leeuwergem-Elene werd een testwandeling met gids uitgevoerd rondom het kasteeldomein. In 2020 zullen deze wandelingen ondersteund worden door een smartphone- en tabletapplicatie voor groepen.

Drone flight (Mar 2, 2019)

The archaeological site of Ename has been recorded by drone, to create an interactive visualisation in the TimeLine application in the Ename museum.

Leeuwergem project (Feb 22, 2018)

Visual Dimension, in cooperation with the Regional Landscape Flemish Ardennes and Tourism Flemish Ardennes, has been awarded a LEADER project concerning the historical landscape Leeuwergem-Elene, situated in and around the castle domain of Leeuwergem. The project will provide by 2020 educational trails on the preserved natural and historical heritage, using innovative 3D visualisation and smartphone-based group experiences.

Visual Dimension, in samenwerking met het Regionaal Landschap Vlaamse Ardennen en Toerisme Vlaamse Ardennen, werd een LEADER project toegekend betreffende het historisch landschap Leeuwergem-Elene, dat zich situeert in en rondom het kasteeldomein van Leeuwergem. Het project realiseert tegen 2020 educatieve wandelroutes over de uitzonderlijke natuur- en erfgoedwaarden in dit landschap, ondersteund door 3D visualisatie en smartphone-gebaseerde applicaties voor groepen.

Beyond 3D digitizing: 3D applications in cultural heritage (Jun 22-23, 2016)

Visual Dimension will organise a workshop in collaboration with DEN Kenniscentrum Digital Herfgoed.
It will discuss 3D applications in cultural heritage and "the making of" of Ename 1290 project.

TimeScope system for FLORALIËN 2016 (Apr 21, 2016)

A TimeScope system will be on display at the exhibition "Eerste palmboom van België in de abdij van Ename" showing the gardens of the abbey in 1665 and 1730.

International Blender Conference, Amsterdam (Oct 29, 2015)

Digital Heritage 2015, Granada (Oct 2, 2015)

Visual Dimension was present at Digital Heritage in Granada (Sept 28 – Oct 2, 2015). We had two stands at the Digital Heritage Expo and we presented two papers.

International SmartCulture Week, Lille (Sept 28, 2015)

Visual Dimension presented its activities at the International Smart Culture Week in Lille, France and linked with the many companies, museums and research centres in the Lille region.

Raversyde 3D shown for the first time (Sept 27, 2015)

At the Atlantikwall open-air museum at Raversyde, Oostende, the 3D reconstruction of the German coastal defense unit “Battery Aachen” by Visual Dimension was shown for the first time at the site. Have a virtual guided tour on the site by checking the blog on this project!

European Heritage Days (Sept 16, 2015)

The 3D-ICONS and V-MusT.net projects, in which we participated, are two of five cultural heritage projects featured on the Digital Agenda for Europe website in the context of the European Heritage Days (19-20/09/2015).

Open Monuments Day (Sept 13, 2015)

On Sunday September 13,2015, Open Monuments Day was celebrated in Ename under the theme Feast in the Abbey. Visitors at the Heritage Centre attended the first guided virtual walk-through of the Saint Salvator abbey of Ename in 1290. This natural interaction system that we developed is called TimeGate and makes the visitors experience interactively the village and abbey in medieval times.

Ritualia (Aug 22, 2015)

The modern art exhibition Ritualia, that opened on Aug 22, 2015, shows artworks of eight international artists at different locations in Ename. Visual Dimension integrated in the TimeFrame system in the church a 24 hour time-lapse video of the artwork Chair, made by Pierre De Buck.

Press conference on Ename 1290 (Aug 21, 2015)

The virtual walk-through Ename 1290 was presented to the press in the Ename Heritage Centre. This system allows guides to take visitors on an interactive 3D walk through medieval Ename.

The Legacy of Charlemagne in Prague (July 17, 2015)

Visual Dimension cooperates with the Institute of Archaeology of the Czech Academy of Sciences in Prague to provide content for the exhibition The Legacy of Charlemagne, Early Middle Ages as the Cradle of the European Culture, which takes place in the Prague Castle from July 17 to October 14, 2015, in the context of the European project Cradles of European Culture.

Sarajevo city model online (May 15, 2015)

On May 15, 2015, the Sarajevo City Museum inaugurated the interactive city model that was created by Visual Dimension in cooperation with the computer graphics department of the University of Sarajevo.

Rothenburg (April 22, 2015)

Visual Dimension delivered an adapted version of the Reichkrone application to the Kriminalmuseum in Rothenburg ob der Tauber.

European Heritage Label (April 16, 2015)

On April 16, 2015, Visual Dimension was invited to present to the delegates of the sites receiving the European Heritage Label from the European Community an overview of technologies suitable for heritage sites. At this meeting, the representatives of these sites could discuss and propose the strategies and technologies that could help in providing an optimal access to the sites.

2+3D Photography (April 15, 2015)

On April 15, Visual Dimension was invited to present a workshop at the international 2+3D Photography conference in the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. This workshop outlines a new, optimal strategy to digitise museum objects in 3D.

CAA Siena (March 30, 2015)

On April 2, 2015 Visual Dimension presented its recent work on the abbey of Ename during the International Conference "CAA Siena - Keep the Revolution Going".

Digital Museum Expo (March 12, 2015)

On March 12 and 13, 2015 Visual Dimension Organised a Digital Museum Expo in Brussel. The event, in the frame of V-MusT.net European project, aimed at discover the most cutting edge technologies for museums and heritage.

Ename resources on Europeana (Jan 31, 2015)

In the context of the European project 3D-ICONS, Visual Dimension provided about 100 3D assets and 30 images to Europeana, the European Digital Library of Culture. These digital assets are all about the Ename site. More can be found on our blog.
